Why some AI background changes look fake

An AI background changer swaps the pixels behind you in seconds. What gives it away is everything around the edges. Ask for these four things and the result looks like one photo, not two:

• Matching light. Sunset light is warm and low; office light is soft and cool. If your face is lit from the left, the new scene should be too.
• A shadow on the ground. A person or product with no shadow looks like it is floating.
• The right horizon. A photo taken from below needs a background seen from below. Mention “the horizon at the right height for my camera angle”.
• Soft hair edges. Flyaway hair, glasses and fur are where cut-outs fail. Always ask the AI to keep “the edges of my hair”.
